My Visit to the Washington Monument, 16 Jul 2007

I walked the length of the Capitol Mall, which is a little over two miles. I took several pictures of the Washington Monument, but did not get there early enough to get tickets. They distribute free tickets each morning at 8:30 AM (currently). You can also order tickets through the Internet, but they charge a "convenience fee" (which seems totally reasonable to me).
The Washington Monument is the only "Monument" in Washington, DC. The other things are "Memorials." The Washington Monument was started before Washington died, so it is not strictly speaking a memorial like Lincoln's or Jefferson's or any of the War memorials.
